Photography Style & Approach
How would you describe your photography style?
A mix of observation, direction, and instinct.
I’m always watching for good light, interesting compositions, expressions, movement, and what’s happening just outside the obvious frame. When something needs direction, I’ll step in. When it doesn’t, I’ll let it unfold.
Portraits are relaxed and lightly guided rather than heavily posed. The rest of the wedding is photographed as it happens, with room for the unexpected.
How would you describe your editing style?
Film-inspired, with vintage character.
I’m drawn to rich colour, gentle highlights, natural skin tones, subtle texture, and photographs with atmosphere. My editing is influenced by old photographs, 1960s and ’70s cinema, classic Hollywood, and the qualities of analogue film.
I want the finished photographs to feel considered and polished without looking overly processed.
Do you shoot digitally?
Yes. I photograph weddings with a full-frame mirrorless digital camera, shooting RAW files and delivering carefully edited, high-resolution JPEGs.
I’ve also started experimenting with 35mm film and am exploring ways to incorporate it into wedding coverage in the future.
Booking & Payments
How much is the deposit, and when is it due?
A 25% deposit is required to reserve your date. The remaining 75% is due when your final gallery is ready for delivery.
What’s included in your wedding packages?
Every package includes high-resolution, print-ready images, a personalized online gallery, light retouching, timeline consultation, and a 72-hour sneak peek.
Wedding packages of 6 hours or more also include an engagement session. Additional assistant coverage is available as an add-on.
Do I pay the assistant photographer separately?
Everything is handled through me. If you add assistant coverage, I coordinate with the photographer and take care of their payment directly.
Do you charge a travel fee?
Travel within the Ottawa/Gatineau area is included. For locations outside the city limits, a travel fee applies based on distance.
The Wedding Day
How does the assistant photographer add-on work?
You can add a second photographer to any wedding package for additional coverage.
It’s especially useful when things are happening in different places at once, like getting ready, cocktail hour, or the ceremony. While I focus on the main action, the second photographer can cover another angle, room, or perspective.
All images are edited by me to match the rest of your gallery and delivered together.
Do you carry backup equipment?
Always. I bring backup camera bodies and lenses to every wedding, so I’m prepared if something goes wrong with my equipment.
What happens if you’re unavailable on my wedding day?
This has never happened, but if an emergency meant I couldn’t photograph your wedding, I would arrange for a trusted photographer from my network to step in.
I’d choose someone whose approach and style are a close fit for my own, so your photography still feels at home with the rest of your wedding.
Can we provide a shot list?
Absolutely. My pre-wedding questionnaire includes space for must-have photographs, and you’re welcome to add any specific requests.
We’re camera shy. Will you help pose us?
Yes. You don’t need to know what to do in front of a camera.
I’ll give you direction when you need it, using simple prompts and natural movement rather than putting you through a series of stiff poses.
Can we bring our pet to a session?
Absolutely. Pets are welcome.
I recommend bringing someone along who can look after them between photographs, so you can focus on enjoying the session.
Photo Editing & Delivery
How long until we receive our photos?
Sneak peeks: within 72 hours
Engagements & elopements: 4–6 weeks
Full wedding days: 6–10 weeks, depending on coverage and the time of year
I take the time to carefully edit and curate each gallery so you receive a collection that feels cohesive and considered.
How many photos should we expect?
I photograph generously throughout the day so there’s room to catch the fleeting expressions, interactions, and details that can happen in a split second.
I typically shoot around 1,000 frames per hour, then carefully narrow them down to the strongest images based on sharpness, expression, composition, and what adds something to the story.
You can generally expect 60–120 finished photographs per hour of coverage. An eight-hour wedding might result in around 800 final images.
How will we receive our photos?
Your photographs are delivered through a private online gallery where you can view, download, and share them easily.
All images are delivered as high-resolution, print-ready files.
Do you provide retouching or colour adjustments?
Yes. Every photograph is individually colour graded and receives light, natural retouching.
This can include subtle skin cleanup, removing small blemishes, or tidying minor distractions while keeping you looking like yourselves.
Have a specific request? Just let me know. I’m happy to accommodate reasonable adjustments.
Do you offer physical prints or albums?
Not currently. Your gallery includes high-resolution, print-ready digital files, giving you the freedom to print and preserve your photographs however you choose.
More About the Photographer
Why the name “Retro Radiance”?
The name comes from two things that have always been drawn to me: the character of the past and the feeling of light.
“Retro” speaks to the vintage photographs, film, cinema, and colour that influence my work. “Radiance” brings in the warmth, glow, and atmosphere I’m always looking for in a photograph.
Together, it felt like a natural fit for the kind of photographs I want to make: nostalgic without feeling stuck in the past.
Why did you choose wedding photography?
I love that a wedding gives you so much to photograph. The anticipation, the people coming together, the quiet parts, the celebration, and everything that happens in between.
There’s also something special about being there with a camera while a day that’s been planned for months unfolds completely on its own. You never quite know what you’re going to see.
That combination of people, atmosphere, and unpredictability is what makes each wedding so rewarding to photograph.
